Things to Do

This beautiful part of Southern Utah has an abundance of activities and places to explore. Here we have several of the many locations and recreations for our fellow adventurists. Check out "Our Favorite Hikes" or check in with our staff for more recommendations.

Historic Gem Theater

Grab some hot buttered popcorn and homemade ice cream and settle in for some big-screen entertainment. You can stop in to see the latest movie and check out the Rock Shop. Most of the rocks in the shop are local from surrounding areas. The light hearted atmosphere makes it a perfect place for dining, hanging out, and family fun.

Bryce Canyon National Park

Pack your best hiking shoes and prepare yourself for a trek through Bryce Canyon National Park. There are about 15 trails to choose from, all with various difficulty levels. Many of the trails are interconnected, making it possible to go through more than one trail in a day while seeing more of the park. Each trail offers a spectacular view of Bryce Canyon that you cannot miss while you're in the area.

Panguitch Main Street

Take some time to walk around our historical downtown main street. Part of this town's charm is the many unique shops to visit. Stop in Firehouse Antiques for many whimsical collectibles, The Old Mercantile for all your cowboy needs and souvenirs and many other of quaint shops that will make your visit one of a kind.

Red Canyon

Red Canyon is home to some amazing sights and is the gateway to Bryce Canyon. Red Canyon is one of the best places to explore in the area. The enormous, red hoodoos and magnificent ridges are a breathtaking sight as you hike, bike ride, or just take in all the beautiful surrounding nature. You can find more information about the trails and sightseeing at the visitor center located on the north side of the byway, about four miles from the intersection of Scenic Byway 12 and Highway 89.

Panguitch Lake

Panguitch Lake offers an array of recreational activities to leave you with lasting memories. The lake itself covers 1,234 surface acres, providing plenty of space for boating and making it the most ideal place for year-round fishing. Numerous trails near the lake are there for guests to go hiking, mountain biking, ATV riding, or horseback riding if you want to actively explore around the park.

Brian Head Ski Resort

Brian Head Resort is ideal for your winter adventures. The resort has 8 lifts and the best snow on Earth perfect for skiing, snowboarding, and tubing. This family-friendly winter destination also features a kids camp that is a fully supervised snow sport teaching facility. Our staff favorite is the snow tubing, a great activity for kids and adults a like!

ATV/UTV Riding

Southern Utah boasts some of the best ATV and off-road trails. Many places offer vehicle rentals in the area or bring your own and enjoy exploring miles of terrific wilderness. Kiosks with maps and information can be found near Panguitch City Park (775 N Main), at the industrial park (175 N 700 W), and on Highway 143. Escalante Grand Staircase National Monument

Explore the Grand Staircase and other parts of Escalante National Park . It is possible to walk on the history of Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument right under your feet. The monument is home to fossils that reveal the earth's past inhabitants. Through fossils found, paleontologists have shown that this arid desert once supported huge populations of dinosaurs. You can hike in the area, observe wildlife, or take pictures of the landscape. There are many activities nearby that will satisfy your adventurous spirit.

Ruby's Horseback Adventures

Gallop up the mountain on one of Ruby's Horseback Adventures' trail rides. An experienced wrangler will lead you along a path and you'll have the opportunity to learn more about the fascinating history of Butch Cassidy. There are five trails to choose from, each of which offer unique scenic views and will provide you with an unforgettable experience.
